Here we were asked by JAB Architects to work on one of the Architects own properties. We were instructed to use a damp proofing system from a company called John Newton to create a dry entrance lobby and storage vault to a basement flat, turning an otherwise useless space into an effective storage area.
The lath system allows water to collect on the outside of it and run away into a newly created sump and then off into a drain rather than sitting in the vault and making the whole space damp. When reinstating doors and plastering the area extra care had to be taken to ensure that the lath was not damaged at all as this would cause it to malfunction. Once this was done we then carried out all finishes.
